Characters:
Ikari Shinji: The young "hero" of the story, Shinji is a rather pathetic little boy; his mother is dead, his father couldn't care less about him, and he's the very unwilling savior of the human race as we know it. He pilots a biologically engineered mobile suit, called an Evangelion. He's referred to as the Third Child, and his Eva is Unit 01. He has a tendency to whine a lot, but I still think he's cute.

Katsuragi Misato: Fan service! Actually, she's rather pathetic herself; everyone in this show is. Misato is a NERV tactician. She's also Shinji's caregiver.

Sohryu Asuka Langely: The Second Child, pilot of Unit 02. She's a real firecracker, can be a total bitch, and is one of the saddest little girls I've ever seen.

Ayanami Rei: The First Child, pilot of Unit 00. I like Rei..she's an albino, she rarely speaks, she gets along very well with Gendou, and she bears an uncanny resemblance to Shinji's mother.

Nagisa Kaoru: The Fifth Child. He looks a lot like Rei, albino and all, and has the creepiest smile. He's so kool.

Ryouji Kaji: A real charmer, Kaji was Misato's boyfriend during college. He works for NERV and the Japanese government. He doesn't really do much aroundNERV...

Ikari Gendou: Shinji's father. He is very cold to his son, only interested in carrying out his own plans for NERV. As my brother puts it: BASTARD!!!

Fuyutsuki: Gendou's assistant and second in command. He's kind of the innocent nice guy who got suckered into the rotten deal.

Kensuke & Toji: Shinji's school friends. They've got crushes on Misato and get in the way a lot. Toji is the Fourth Child, but he doesn't last long in that position.

Dr. Akagi Ritsuko: NERV's head scientist, Ritsuko is in charge of the computer system, the Magi, and running experiments with the Evas.

Aoba & Mokoto: Two of the three main computer technicians who basically shout out all the problems with the Magi and the Angel attacks.

PenPen: Misato's kick-ass warm-water penguin and my favorite character in the show! :P  

Synopsis:
Evangelion is an amazing show. It makes sense on about two levels, and has about eleventeen..I love it!...taken from

At the turn of the millennium the inhabitants of Earth are nearly completely wiped out by a mysterious supposed meteorite strike on Antarctica. Roughly half the population dies as a direct result of the strike, and the rest are left to struggle for survival amidst the rising savage seas due to melting of the polar ice.

Now the year is 2015. As the remnants of the human race cower in subterranean cities, a deadly war is being waged for what is left of the planet, and for what lies there within. On one side are the mysterious alien beings known only as the Angels, on the other, the special agency NERV and mankind's last hope for survival; the awe-inspiring Evangelions.

Yet amongst the ongoing devastation, few weary individuals at NERV struggle to uncover and piece together the agency's long buried secrets and hidden agendas along with the mysteries surrounding the arrival of the Angels. Why was the Earth struck fifteen years ago? A mere simple unfortunate act of nature, or perhaps an act of vengeance instigated by beings more powerful than man. Why did NERV classify the Angel responsible for the first attack on Tokyo-3 as the third, not the first? And just why are the only qualified Eva pilots that of children born exactly nine months after the second impact that massacred over half the human race?

And like, none of those questions are answered in the show or movie. ^__^
 

Possible Pairings:
KaoruxShinji: This is the most obvious, because Kaoru is overtly homosexual. In the course of one day he tells Shinji two very nice things: 1.) "Suki da." (In the dub, it's "I love", but that is an incorrect translation! -_- Dubs suck...) and 2.) "I think I was born to meet you, Shinji."  Shinji has a lot of responsibilies for a kid, and he doesn't deal well with life. He is jaded, haunted, depressed, and has zero self-esteem/confidence. Along comes Kaoru, bringing with him a ray of light to brighten Shinji's tiny, dark world. I personally love this pairing. One has to theorize about Eva, there's really no other way of watching it, and I still believe Kaoru and Shinji had sex... Unfortunately, it's a difficult pairing to write about, especially if you want a happy ending. (I've never read one.) Without spoiling too much, there< is a 24-hour window of opportunity in which to set one's story.

KajixShinji: I've actually never read this pairing but there was a very *cough* interesting doujinshi involving it. Kaji is a LOT older than Shinji, and Kaji is still after Misato, and then thigs happen that sort of hamper him from pursuing a relationship...anyway, there's a great great great line (in thr dub, don't know what it is in Japanese) that is the only evidence for this pairing.

Kaji: So, can I buy a drink, Shinji? Cup o' tea? Shinji: -_- (he really does that!) Kaji, I'm a boy.

You could also try a GendouxFuyutsuki (Gendou is SO seme.), which is just
frightening, cause I like Fuyutsuki and Gendou is a BASTARD!!!
